NAVIANCE STUDENT
A key component of the college guidance curriculum at FCS, Naviance Student is a software tool that assists parents and students with college and career exploration and planning. Each FCS student and parent, grades 8–12, has a personalized profile where they are able to engage career assessments, scholarship search resources, resume-building tools, and college-search information.
Users may log in as a guest to see a sample profile, although doing so will provide only limited access to the resources provided to our students and parents; however, several college and career materials are available for guest viewing.
2025 SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENTS
Fremont Christian School’s summer reading program is underway for all students entering grades 6–12. Designed to help students maintain their reading and writing skills during the summer break, the assignment reinforces fluency and comprehension—areas that often decline when school is out of session. It also offers students a shared literary experience to build on when they return in the fall.
For this year’s assignments, our faculty has revised the book lists and requirements as well as the note-taking assignment from previous years. Instructions for note-taking have been included with each grade-level book list. Please read the assignment carefully, as it provides information about the required reading, the student choice reading, and the writing assignments. On the first day of school, students should bring both books (Kindles or other e-readers are fine) they have read, along with their written work.
Students enrolled in either AP English Language or AP English Literature: You need to complete only the AP English summer assignment. AP English summer work will be emailed to enrolled students by the beginning of June.
Parents: We encourage you to partner with your child in selecting their summer reading books. The reading list includes a broad range of novels—from classics to contemporary works—and reflects diverse cultures and perspectives. Many of the selections are high-interest titles that support high school and college readiness. While each book has been reviewed by a staff member, we understand that not every title will align with every family’s preferences. Some books may include mature content, such as occasional profanity. We recommend reading online reviews and considering your child’s maturity level and ability to engage with complex themes before making a final choice.

Each year, Fremont Christian subscribes to EBSCO, a comprehensive online research platform that gives students access to more than 300 full-text and secondary databases, including thousands of scholarly journals, magazines, books, and reference materials. EBSCO includes a built-in text-to-speech feature (available in databases like the ELL Reference Center) that provides valuable support for English Language Learners and students with limited English proficiency.
Students and educators can also access free resources such as:
